Satellite High Repeats as Central Florida Champs
Satellite High School emerged victorious for the second year in a row as The Red Bull Riders Cup Central Florida Regional Champs.
Satellite High’s depth, experience and use of modern technology contributed to their win over Cocoa Beach High in the final. Head coach George Seguna debuted their new radio helmets that allows the head coach to communicate directly with each player from the beach, similar to the quarter-back in football receiving plays from the coach on the sideline.
A triple-header was held after the NSL extended the waiting period an extra day in anticipation of an incoming, but short-lived swell. The move paid off with fun waist to chest high surf for the duration of the day.
Satellite High will now advance to the National Championships at Upper Trestles June 6-7.

Undisclosed Location
What a day! The triple-header went off in fun offshore surf after going mobile and moving to an "undisclosed location". A Friday morning surf check brought us absolutely horrible surf at Pelican Beach park. The recent large surf washed away all the sand in the shorebreak exposing the rock reef just below the surface. Basically it was a one-foot shorebreak on a dry rock reef. Not good. So, we went sandbar hunting and it brought us to 16th st in Cocoa Beach, which had a nice little sling-shot right running down a shallow sandbank. It was by far the best surf we’ve seen all week. Waist to chest high offshore wedges. All the schools seemed stoked about the move and their enthusiasm showed in their surfing.

FRIDAY TRIPLE HEADER
Ok, Well the wind swell did not materialize and we once again made the decision to postpone the Central Florida Regional of the Red Bull Riders Cup. With Thursday also looking like a lay-day, we have decided to extend the event window to Friday and the expected arrival of a small ground swell. Friday will be a triple-header starting around noon. It’s a little clichéd, but I think now is the time to PRAY FOR SURF!

Central FL Swell and Schedule Update
The surf was again flat today (Tuesday) over here in Satellite Beach for the Red Bull Riders Cup Central FL Regional. Every surf forecast we’ve looked at is indicating Friday as being our best shot at surf this week. However, the wind is howling right now and there is a chance of the surf picking up enough to run a Game or perhaps two on Wednesday… If not, there’s a possibility of a triple header on Friday.
A call will be made in the morning before 9 am. Stay tuned.
