National Surf League | The Game

The third annual Red Bull Riders Cup, traveled around the country in search for the best high school surfing team.  The eight regional finalists will travel to the national championships from June 14-15 at San Onofre, Church’s in California for the chance to become the best high school surf team in the country. 

The National Surf League presents the Red Bull Riders Cup as the premiere high school surfing tournament, bringing together the best young surfers in each region.  Thirty two schools from eight regions battled in games sanctioned by the National Surf League.  The Red Bull Riders Cup uses “The Game” format for its tournament. The format is modeled after traditional team sports like basketball and football.

The Red Bull Riders Cup is the first step to bringing a new outlook to the sport of surfing to the community through a familiar competitive format. NSL founder Brad Gerlach says, “The Game creates an easier understanding of surfing as a sport. The entire game spans less than two hours, with three periods, coaches and time outs.”

Directions to Church’s:

Exit 5 FWY at Basilone Road and head south.  There will be signs directing you to the special event parking lot, which is the first right on the ocean side of the freeway.  A shuttle will be running from the parking lot to Church’s Beach.
