Aussies vs. Red Bull High School A Team

Nov. 2, 2007 –The Australian Junior Surf Team crushed the NSL High School Cup A-team today at the Huntington Beach Pier. Cloudy skies and inconsistent three-foot sets didn’t stop the teams from getting fired up.

The A-team looked to take the lead with long rides and big maneuvers, but struggled to find their waves in the first period. Tension rose, as the Australian Junior team dominated in the first period and forcefully took the lead.

“The Game format is a lot of fun. It shows great sportsmanship and it’s cool to mix it up and surf with your teammates,” said MVP Sam Lendrum from the Australian Junior Surf Team. The Australian team stole the show with smooth style and good wave selection throughout the entire game.

Australian Junior Surf Team’s head coach was Sasha Stocker and San Diego legend, David Barr coached the Red Bull High School Cup A-team. “The game is exciting and new for us and the kids enjoy the competitive environment,” said Sasha Stocker.

Professional surfers Brett Simpson, Shaun Ward, Jeff Defenbaugh, Nick Kovack, Micah Bryne, Justin Swartz, Willie Smith and Jason Bennett came out to show support and judge the game.
